The stages
Five stages from Utah Beach to Omaha Beach
-
Stage 01 · Sainte-Marie-du-Mont · Manche
Utah Beach
Start on the beach at Sainte-Marie-du-Mont, where the 4th Division came ashore on 6 June 1944. Packed sand and a wide open bay: we take the temperature before setting off.
-
Stage 02 · Carentan-les-Marais · Manche
Carentan-les-Marais
Across the Cotentin marshes and the Carentan canal, along the former German defensive line. Towpaths and ditches: the quietest stretch of the day.
-
Stage 03 · Isigny-sur-Mer · Calvados
Isigny-sur-Mer
From the Aisne to the sea: a fishing village, its landing stage and the remains of the D-Day dyke, halfway between the two beaches.
-
Stage 04 · Grandcamp-Maisy · Calvados
Grandcamp-Maisy
A stop on the seafront at Grandcamp-Maisy: blockhouses, the fish market hall and the remains of the defensive line, on the edge of the Baie des Veys.
-
Stage 05 · Colleville-sur-Mer · Calvados
Omaha Beach
Arrival at Omaha Beach, between Colleville-sur-Mer and Saint-Laurent-sur-Mer, in front of the most heavily contested landing sector of the Normandy coast.
